I just watched the lead story on the Channel 7 news: Emmie-Rose's story. Take that, U of M!!

I'm still praying for Emmie-Rose and hope that she'll make it until the court hearing on Wednesday. Please, please let the judge be reasonable and rule that Emmie-Rose is entitled to receive nutrients and blood transfusions again!!

    You grow girl!!!

Hello - a friend forwarded your blog site on to me, asking prayer for your sweet little one... I know a family who has been through similar to what you are going through, and have their permission to forward their info on to you, but am not finding an email address for you. I have called and left a message with your attorney office (info obtained from your "media contacts" info on your blog) but was hoping to relay their info directly to you.
Continuing to lift Emmie Rose and you all in prayer through this struggle. It's so sad that some people don't value life, and I'm sorry that you are going through all of this.

Is there a web address for Channel 7 you could post? I am in MI but across the state and would like to see your interview.

God Bless! I am passing on Emmie's info to my prayer group. I also gave the link to your blog to my MOD coordinator.

I e-mailed your blog to a local newstation in Birmingham, Alabama, that loves to cover these stories, and get the public outraged. Every little bit helps, I suppose. Your family and your precious baby will be in my thoughts.

Not sure if you took my advice earlier regarding contacting the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada. This is a hospital that takes cases from around the world and have the best of the best doctors for children!!!

The ethics committee statement says that transfer to another hospital is not in the baby's best interest, so they won't release her to be transfered to another hospital, so calling other hospitals would be pointless at this time. That is part of the injustice of this whole thing...they won't treat her, they won't allow her to be transferred, and she can't be discharged AMA because she is a minor. We can only hope the court paves the way.

The live airing was more accurate and had more details. It had the lawyer speaking. It also showed Stephanie giving her outlook on the whole situation. It was letting people know that the family's rights were being violated. They did give Emmie Rose actual birthday and weight on the live broadcast. Over all I felt that they did a good job.

My Love and Prayers are with Emmie and the Family. Keep on Growing!!!!!

    If the person who said

"I will try and mpge it later tonight for all the web." would get me access to that as well, I can possibly post it on Emmie's MySpace page as well.

    Kris1@tampabay.rr.com
    Thank you very much.

Other hospitals will not accept her because given the circumstances she is not a candidate for transplant.

It seems that many of us don't understand that U of M WON'T LET EMMIE GO!! They refuse to allow her to be transfered to another hospital, because it is not in the best interests of the child in their opinion. (recheck the ethics committe ruling previously posted in this blog) Personally, I think they made some fatal errors in her treatment, and don't want to be found out my another doctor not associated with the U of M, which is why they refuse to let her be transferred. This is the injustice of it all...they REFUSE, to treat the baby, REFUSE to allow a second opinion from outside of U of M, and REFUSE to release her to allow her to be transferred to another hospital. Someone in an earlier comment said that the baby is not eligible for transplant, which is why other hospitals won't accept her which is WRONG! She had a doctor and hospital lined up, until U of M interfered!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The only reasons that I am aware of that Emmie is currently not eligible for a transplant is that she is too small, and she must be off the vent. As hard as this baby is fighting, if the doctors would take care of her, she might have the chance to grow and get of the vent to become eligible for the transplant. Unfortunatly, we may never know if she could've, as it's my understanding that she is deterorating every day that she is not cared for, not only from not being given intravenous food and meds and blood, but also from the surgeon's shoddy work, which they won't at this point repair. It's disgusting, and evil, and wrong, and I hope against hope the legal system is able to intervene before it is too late!

Unfortunately, you are playing on the emotions of the general public who don't understand medical care or medical ethics. The hospital is not trying to violate your parental rights, but have to consider what is in the best interest of your baby. If there is no intestine, she cannot eat. Why do you not believe what they are telling you?

why would anybody take the time to write such an evil and spiteful thing you are a sick animal and i hope that you are never in this situation.I cannot imagine the strength it must have taken to sit there and watch your sweet angel starve while she is fighting so hard.the parents must be amazing people and deserve support.they should NOT be criticized.you must be a childless UofM employee.or a lonley busy body.either way shame on you.
P.S. are there any trusts set up for donations for the family to help them through this?
