Sep 15 - Court

The hospital did not respond to our legal demands yesturday.

We did get their attention yesturday with everyones help
contacting all the diff media outlets! Thank YOU!
The hospital was freeking out calling our lawyers asking what
in the world were we doing with the media.

We spent most of the afternoon at the lawyers office.
We are waiting for the phone call this morning to head into court
to start filing paperwork.

The hospital seems to want to play hardball because they did not respond to any of our demands yesturday.

Emmie-Rose was still going strong last night. Mommy held her for
a long time yesturday afternoon. We had visitors come and say hello
then came home to rest.

Will fill everyone in as things unfold today.

someone posted the blog on one of my regular message boards and I have helped to post it on others to get the message out. I live in Canada, so when yo do want media involved, I will definitl notify our media here. Maybe some worldwide attention will give the hospital the kick in the butt it needs to help little Emmie-Rose. If there is anything at all we can do, let us know. My heart goes out to you all. Keep fighting baby Emmie-Rose!!!

I check this blog daily to see how things are unfolding. I am so happy to see little Emmie Rose still fighting!! The power of prayer is amazing! She is a little trooper! I'm praying that things go quickly and smoothly for you in court. And I'm praying that God opens the eyes of the doctors and makes them see that this little girl is is such a fighter that it's their obligation to fight with her.

I cannot believe the hospital staff refuse to feed this baby. That's terrible. Is there any way to get nutrition into her?? At least so you can proceed with the legalities and second opinions knowing she's being fed something?

I mentioned this site to a support group forum I belong to and one of the members suggested Kosair Childrens Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. She said that's where one of her twins was and that they were caring for 20 weekers there. Good luck! I'll keep praying.

Hi there - I have just received a link to your blog from a Trisomy21 online support group I belong to. I am here in Westland, MI - my daughter Lily had her heart surgery at U of M and although I have not read your whole story to know everything - I am just so saddened that you have to fight for your daughter to live. Have you tried Children's Hospital downtown Detroit? If there is anything that I can do or any contacts I can make for you please let me know! My daughter Lily only had a 50/50 chance of making it and we were at Oakwood and they never gave up on her.... Please know I keep you guys in my prayers and if you need to you can email me at lisahuckleberry@hotmail.com

I had wonderful care for my newborn at Munson Hospital NICU in Traverse City, MI. The doctors and nurses there are great. I also have had great care at Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago.

Happy 2 month old birthday sweet Emmie Rose! I'm so sorry to hear that you are having so many troubles receiving the proper care to keep her alive. My heart is just breaking for you as you fight to save your baby's life. I will keep you and your family in my prayers. As a side note, I know of two wonderful people who were both born extremely premature (both under 2lbs at birth and both at around 24 weeks gestation) and they are both alive and a blessing to their families today!

I can't believe the Dr's at Motts are acting that way. I have a cousin that was born at 26 weeks and spent over two months there. His parents loved the care he was getting, and never had any complaints. I'm sorry you're having so much trouble with them. I always thought they were supposed to be one of the best children's hospitals around. I'll be keeping you all in my prayers!!

I have a friend whose baby was born at Meriter Hospital in Madison Wisconsin she was born at 27 weeks and weighed 2 lbs 1 oz and had a lot of problems. She was born with a tumor that weighed as much as her and she had to have surgery immediatly. The dr.'s gave her 1% chance of ever leaving the hospital. Even though they didn't have much hope they never gave up on her. She is now almost 4 months and is at home and doing great! So don't give up. And find some dr's who won't give up!

My heart is breaking for you.

My son and daughter were born in week 22, and didn't get any natal care because they were born too soon. The ethics clause prevented anything from being done to try and save them.

Your daughter is in my prayers.

Your story has made it all the way to Canada.

I truly hope that U of M will wake up and that Emmie-Rose will pull through...

My heart goes out to you. I wish I were rich and could pay for you to be at a different hospital. I hope those doctors on the Non-ethical committee are shamed. Have you filed a compliant with your state's medical board about those doctors who are not providing care? Pray I will because God is great, and someday those sorry excuse for doctors will have to answer for their actions, or rather lack of action. But in the meantime, I lift you and your family up to God.

A prayer for the Physicians..."Exalted God -- Before I begin the holy work of healing the creations of your hands, I place my entreaty before the throne of your glory that you grant strength of spirit and fortitude to faithfully execute my work. Let not desire for wealth or benefit blind me from seeing truth. Deem me worthy of seeing in the sufferer who seeks my advice - a person - neither rich nor poor. Friend or foe, good man or bad, of a man in distress, show me only the man.
If doctors wiser than me seek to help me understand, grant me the desire to learn from them, for the knowledge of healing is boundless. But when fools deride me, give me fortitude! Let my love for my profession strengthen my resolve to withstand the derision even of men of high station. Illuminate the way for me, for any lapse in my knowledge can bring illness and death upon your creations. I beseech you, merciful and gracious God, strengthen me in body and soul, and instill within me a perfect spirit."

We are all praying for you and Emmie Rose...much love Sue and team at (healingquest.ca)

Just checking in on Emmie Rose. As a parent of a micropreemie myself I know all that you're going thru down to receiving support from others when you're used to giving it! Also the rollar coaster of the nicu.

My daughter was a 24 weeker and at Loyola Hospital in Maywood IL.
Jon Mauraskas is an outstanding physicain that heads up one of the best nicus in the country. He has had babies less than 12 oz survive and lead miracle lives.
    I suggest you contact him.
